Two production companies known for their friendliness to female-centric and women-driven projects have announced a merger.
Christine Vachon and Pam Koffler’s Killer Films — the outfit behind Kimberly Peirce’s Boys Don’t Cry and Mary Harron’s I Shot Andy Warhol and The Notorious Bettie Page — will fuse with Adrienne Becker’s emerging multimedia incubator Glass Elevator.
Koffler said the merger process came about in a “natural, organic and unpremeditated” manner after the two companies worked together on director Susanne Bier’s This Beautiful Life, an adaptation of Helen Shulman’s novel about the aftermath of a viral video of a local teenage girl.
Though the new hybrid company will be known as Killer Content and produce projects for TV and the web as well as for theatrical distribution, feature films will continue to be released under the Killer Films label.
