Trailer Watch: Diane Kurys’ For a Woman + Exclusive Artwork

null

In Oscar-nominated director Diane Kurys’ (Entre Nous) latest film, a love triangle forms between a man, his wife, and his brother.

Michel (Benoit Magimel) and Jean (Nicolas Duvauchelle) believed each other to have perished during the war. When the brothers are reunited in 1945, Michel and his wife Lena (Melanie Thierry) hesitantly welcome Jean into their lives despite their fears that he may be a Soviet spy. Restless in her cramped role as a housewife, Lena embarks on an affair with Jean.

Like many of Kurys’ other films, For a Woman is autobiographical. Her stand-in in the film, a writer named Anne (Sylvie Testud), discovers during the 1980s that her late mother had a dalliance with her brother-in-law.

For a Woman opens May 2.
