We’ve seen the last of Abbi and Ilana’s shenanigans, but a new animated series might help fill the void left by “Broad City’s” finale. Created by Lisa Hanawalt (“BoJack Horseman”), “Tuca & Bertie” brings together two of the world’s funniest comedians: Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong. The pair voice 30-year-old bird women and BFFs who live in the same apartment building.
“Why do you never want to have fun adventures anymore?” Tuca (Haddish) asks Bertie (Wong). If a newly released trailer for the series is any indication, the pals have plenty of adventures yet to come. Plus, Tuca has a new pet jaguar that she’s sure to need help with.
Bertie, meanwhile, is dealing with sexual harassment. “I’m an adult woman. I deserve to be treated like a person and not an object — so get out of my space or I’ll break your face!” she warns.
Haddish broke out with 2017’s “Girls Trip.” She stars in “The Last O.G.,” now in its second season on TBS, The comedian has a Netflix stand-up special on the way.
Best known for her Netflix comedy specials “Baby Cobra” and “Hard Knock Wife,” Wong’s acting credits include “American Housewife,” “Inside Amy Schumer,” and “Fresh Off the Boat.” She previously served as a writer on the latter.
“Tuca & Bertie” drops May 3 on Netflix.
