“Wonder Woman 2” Release Gets Bumped Up, MGM Dates Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson Comedy

“Wonder Woman”

Diana Prince is returning sooner than expected. Originally scheduled to hit theaters December 13, 2019, “Wonder Woman 2” will now be released November 1, 2019, six weeks earlier than planned. That means we have fewer days to count down till Gal Gadot reprises her iconic role.

Warner Bros. made the announcement yesterday, according to Variety.

“Wonder Woman” is currently the second-highest grossing film in the U.S. this year, with “Beauty and The Beast” taking the top spot. The critically acclaimed blockbuster has taken in over $821 million worldwide, making it the highest-grossing live-action film ever directed by a woman. Helmer Patty Jenkins is set to reprise her duties for the sequel, and this time around, she’ll also co-write the script. Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman 2” deal makes her the highest-paid female filmmaker ever.

In other release news, Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson’s comedy about scam artists doesn’t have officially have a title, but we do know when it’ll bow. Previously known as “Nasty Women,” the “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” remake sees Hathaway and Wilson trying to con a tech prodigy. Deadline reports that the MGM film will receive a wide release August 10. Jac Schaeffer (“TiMER”) penned the script and Chris Addison (“Veep”) is directing.
