The latest news from Cannes involves a new movie from Marianna Palka. The “Good Dick” writer-director will helm women-driven buddy comedy “Girls Night,” starring “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before’s” Lana Condor and “Deadpool’s” Brianna Hildebrand. Deadline broke the story.

Written by Cristina Kinon (“Girl Code Live”), the film “follows unlikely best friends, college seniors Alex (Condor) and Tina (Hildebrand), and their adventures over the course of Halloween Night in New York City as they try and track down a lost one-night stand — and figure out what they’re going to do with the rest of their lives.”

Impossible Dream Entertainment’s Yvette Yates (“Malicious”) and Shaun Redick (“BlacKkKlansman”) are producing and Sophie Green and Priya Amritraj are among the executive producers.

“We’ve finally arrived at an era where it has become permissible for women to be portrayed as wild, imperfect, inappropriate, hilarious, and real human beings,” Palka declared. “‘Girls Night’ is about coming-of-age, rejecting societal constraints, and the power of sisterhood. We will break some boundaries!” she promised.

Palka’s most recent film, modern motherhood comedy “Egg,” received Women in the Arts & Media Coalition’s Acclaimed Collaboration Award. It premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival. Features “Bitch” and “Always Worthy” and episodes of “Happy!” are among Palka’s other directing credits. She’s also a writer, producer, and has acted in her own projects and others, such as “GLOW,” “Girls,” and “Scottish Mussel.”

Condor made her screen debut as Jubilee in 2016’s “X-Men: Apocalypse.” She broke out last year with Netflix’s hit teen rom-com “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before,” and is currently filming its sequel. Condor’s other credits include “Alita: Battle Angel” and “Deadly Class.”

Hildebrand portrayed Negasonic Teenage Warhead in “Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2.” She’s also starred in “Tragedy Girls” and “The Exorcist.” You can catch her next in Netflix’s upcoming series “Trinkets,” the story of three teen girls who bond over their shoplifting habit.
