Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck made box office history with Marvel’s first female-led superhero pic, and now the “Captain Marvel” directors are set to tell a very different story with a female lead — one who seems to have major qualms with women flying “higher, further, faster.” The pair signed on to helm the first two episodes of FX’s Cate Blanchett-starrer “Mrs. America.” Deadline confirmed the news. The limited series is based on a true story and sees the two-time Oscar winner playing conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly.
Best known for her public opposition to the movement to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment, Schlafly took on famous feminists such as Gloria Steinem, Betty Friedan, and Shirley Chisholm.
The drama also added a number of new cast members including Sarah Paulson, Uzo Aduba, Rose Byrne, and Margo Martindale, among others. Head over to Deadline to check out the complete cast list.
Boden and Fleck’s TV credits include “Billions” and “The Affair.” “Mississippi Grind” and “Half Nelson” are among their features. “Captain Marvel” has grossed over $1.12 billion worldwide so far.
