The 2014 Golden Globe Awards have us excited about Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s return to hosting duties and… that’s about it. With no women directors (minus Frozen co-helmer Jennifer Lee) or screenwriters among the film nominees, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association inadvertently exposed the Grand Canyon-esque gender gaps in the movie industry, especially at the top.

Lee was the only woman director whose work was recognized by the Globes. There’s not even a woman directed movie up for best drama or best comedy or best foreign language film.

Things were slightly better on the TV side — that is, women weren’t conspicuously absent from most categories. Michelle Ashford’s Masters of Sex and Robert and Michelle King’s The Good Wife earned Best Drama nods, while Lena Dunham’s Girls received a Best Comedy nom and Jane Campion’s Top of the Lake one for Best TV Miniseries or Movie.
