Exclusive: A Friend’s Prank Goes Awry in “Suck It Up” Clip

“Suck It Up”

“Does anything taste a little bit odd about that lemonade? Maybe, like, something special?” a laughing Ronnie (Grace Glowicki) asks her best friend in a clip for Jordan Canning’s “Suck It Up.” Faye (Erin Margurite Carter), who has just taken a big swig, freezes and understandably so — Ronnie reveals that the drink is laced with MDMA.

But it’s not the practical joke Ronnie was imagining: Faye has a job interview via Skype in a half-hour. Still cracking up, Ronnie apologizes, saying that she didn’t know that the interview was today. “Well, when in doubt, don’t fucking drug me,” Faye yells.

Directed by Canning (“We Were Wolves,” “This Hour Has 22 Minutes”) and written by newcomer Julia Hoff, “Suck It Up” follows Ronnie and Faye as they reconnect after losing Garrett, Ronnie’s brother and Faye’s first love. Ronnie is having a particularly hard time and her grief is manifesting itself as an extended bender. Determined to prevent her friend from self-destructing, Faye takes Ronnie on a road trip to her family’s cottage in the mountains.

The dramedy premiered earlier this year at Sundance and opens theatrically in LA this Friday, October 27, before hitting additional cities.

Check out our exclusive “Suck It Up” clip to find out how Faye’s ecstasy-infused interview goes.
