Trailer Watch: Rose Marie Sings Her Way into Showbiz History in “Wait for Your Laugh”

“Wait for Your Laugh”

Rose Marie has been performing since she came out of the womb. “The minute she was born, the doctor slapped her and she started singing,” we’re told in a new trailer for “Wait for Your Laugh,” an upcoming doc about the singing and acting sensation. The spot features only a brief glimpse of Rose Marie herself, but others emphasize just how impressive her legacy is.

“Believe me when I tell you — she’s the history of show business,” one character says. We’re told that Rose Marie, who landed her own NBC radio show at the age of four, “paved her own way” and “was no pushover, that’s for sure.”

The singer and actress “went from the stages of Vaudeville to the bright lights of Vegas, to some of the most iconic television shows,” the film’s official synopsis details. Her credits include “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” “The Doris Day Show,” and “Hollywood Squares.” Off-camera, “characters like Al Capone, Bugsy Siegel, and Jerry Lewis all played a part in this woman’s story of fame, love, tragedy, and success.”

Rose Marie’s career has spanned 90 years. “She’s never stopped working — ever,” we’re told. “In her case it’s a drug. It’s something that she has to do.”

Directed by Jason Wise (“SOMM: Into the Bottle”), “Wait for Your Laugh” opens in NY November 3 and LA November 17 with more cities to follow.
