Currently best known for her Emmy-nominated role as Rebecca Pearson on “This Is Us,” Mandy Moore first launched onto the scene as a teenage popstar. A series inspired by her days singing hits like “Candy” and “Crush” is in development at ABC. Hailing from writer and exec producer Amanda Lasher the project is tentatively known as “90’s Popstar” and has received a put pilot order from the network. Variety confirmed the news.

The potential series sees a family from small town Texas forced to “adapt to their extraordinary new reality when their teenage daughter goes from aspiring singer to pop superstar practically overnight,” according to the source. Moore is among the executive producers.

Moore released three albums during her teens: “So Real,” “I Wanna Be With You,” and “Mandy Moore.” Her early acting credits included “The Princess Diaries” and “A Walk to Remember.”

Lasher recently served as showrunner on the second and third season of “The Bold Type.” “Riverdale” and “Gossip Girl” are among her other credits.

“This Is Us” is currently in its fourth season on NBC, and has been renewed through Season 6. Moore’s other recent credits include  “47 Meters Down” and “Red Band Society.”
