ABC is still seeking “Revenge.” The network is developing a follow-up series to the 2010s hit, Deadline reports. This time, the person hellbent on vengeance will be a young Latinx immigrant looking to take down those responsible for her mother’s death.
The project is written by Mike Kelley and Joe Fazzio, who respectively served as creator/exec producer and writer-producer on the original series. The reboot sees the protagonist heading to Malibu “to exact revenge on a Sackler-esque pharmaceutical dynasty, whose insatiable greed [led] to the murder of her biochemist mother, the destruction of her family, and a global epidemic,” the source teases. There will also be a direct link between the old “Revenge” and the new: the heroine will be “guided by one of the original series’ favorite characters.”
No word on that character’s identity yet. The reboot is still in early development, so no actors are attached at this point.
Starring Emily VanCamp and Madeleine Stowe, “Revenge” ran for four seasons, from 2011-2015, on ABC. The “Count of Monte Cristo”-inspired story followed Emily Thorne (VanCamp) as she ingratiated herself with the rich Hamptons family that framed her father, in order to — you guessed it — get revenge. Stowe portrayed the family’s matriarch, Victoria Grayson.
