Trailer Watch: The Iron Lady (UK Version)

The trailer is clear evidence that Streep will deliver another Oscar caliber performance (as if we had any doubt.) Whether the movie stands up, still remains to be seen. But this is clearly going to be very controversial. Here’s what Streep said to the Daily Mail about playing Thatcher:

“It was one of those rare, rare films where I was grateful to be an actor and grateful for the privilege of being able to look at a life deeply with empathy. There’s no greater joy…I still don’t agree with a lot of her policies…But I feel she believed in them and that they came from an honest conviction, and that she wasn’t a cosmetic politician just changing make-up to suit the times. She stuck to what she believed in, and that’s a hard thing to do.”

An insult? No, this shows why Maggie was so mighty. Left-wing star Meryl Streep tells Baz Bamigboye she now reveres the Iron Lady (Daily Mail)
