Brooklynn Prince would rather be brave than smart in a new trailer for “Home Before Dark.” Inspired by the true story of Hilde Lysiak’s reporting, the upcoming Apple TV+ series stars “Florida Project” breakout Prince as a nine-year-old with a passion for investigative journalism.
It doesn’t take long after Hilde’s family moves back to her father’s hometown for her to notice something is amiss. Locals keep alluding to her father’s past, and she’s determined to find out why he once swore he’d never return. The fourth grader discovers that her father’s best friend, the mayor’s son, was taken right in front of him, and the missing boy was never found.
Determined to solve the mystery, Hilde demands to see police reports, but it’s clear that not everyone takes the grade schooler’s journalism seriously. “Young lady, you have no idea what you’re getting into,” she’s warned. Without skipping a beat, an indignant Hilde responds, “I feel like being called a young lady should be a compliment, but it never sounds like it is.”
“Home Before Dark” premieres on Apple TV+ April 3. Dana Fox (“Isn’t It Romantic”) and Dara Resnik (“Jane the Virgin”) created the series, which has already been renewed for a second season.
