Beyoncé and J.K. Rowling Among the World’s Highest-Paid Celebrities

Beyoncé in the “Hold Up” music video

Never underestimate the enthusiasm — or spending power — of the BeyHive. They’ve helped ensure that Queen Bey is the top-placing woman in Forbes’ list of the world’s highest-paid celebrities of 2017. The “Lemonade” superstar scored second place overall on the list, coming in behind Diddy. Beyoncé racked in $105 million. Just one other woman cracked the Top 10, “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling, who made $95 million.

Ellen DeGeneres made the Top 20, as did Adele. The former has a Netflix stand-up special in the works. The TV personality earned $77 million this year, landing her at №16. Adele, who has done a lot of touring throughout 2017, took in $69 million and snagged №18 on the list.

Overall, 16 of the 100 celebrities are women. Ten male actors made the list — including Mark Wahlberg, Dwayne Johnson, and Vin Diesel — but just one actress did: “Modern Family’s” Sofia Vergara. (Amy Schumer is included in the list but she’s listed as a comedian rather than an actress, and the bulk of her earnings presumably came from touring as a stand-up. Jennifer Lopez also earned a spot on the list, but she’s listed as a musician.)

Check out all of the women to make Forbes’ highest-paid celebs list below. List adapted from Forbes.
