Sasha Lane makes her small screen debut with “Utopia.” The “American Honey” breakout is teaming up with “Gone Girl” author and screenwriter Gillian Flynn on the Prime Video thriller based on the British series of the same name.
“What have you done today to earn your place in this crowded world?” a new trailer for the project asks. “Utopia,” we’re told, is a comic “about a rogue scientist who created biological warfare.”
When the conspiracy in the comic turns out to be real, a group of fans band together to “embark on a high-stakes twisted adventure to use what they uncover to save themselves, each other, and ultimately humanity,” the show’s synopsis hints.
“Things are getting dangerous,” Lane’s character announces just before a building explodes.
Lane is best known for her starring role in Andrea Arnold’s “American Honey.” “Hellboy,” “Hearts Beat Loud,” and “The Miseducation of Cameron Post” are among her other credits.
Flynn previously served as a writer and exec producer on “Sharp Objects,” HBO’s Amy Adams-starrer based on her novel of the same name.
“Utopia” arrives on Prime Video this fall.
