Lynn Shelton to Be Honored by The American Cinematheque

Shelton

The American Cinematheque is set to honor Lynn Shelton. Deadline reports that the non-profit org is hosting an online event paying tribute to the late writer-director’s body of television work with an online conversation featuring Reese Witherspoon, Kerry Washington, and Gillian Jacobs, among others.

Last month Shelton received two posthumous Emmy nominations for “Little Fires Everywhere,” Hulu’s adaptation of Celeste Ng’s best-selling novel about two families whose lives collide and are forever changed. She’s up for Directing for a Limited Series, Movie or Dramatic Special and Outstanding Limited Series. Shelton directed four episodes of the drama and served as an exec producer.

“The Morning Show,” “GLOW,” “The Mindy Project,” “Fresh Off the Boat,” and “Mad Men” are among her many other small screen directing credits. Her features include “Sword of Trust,” “Your Sister’s Sister,” and “Humpday.”

The American Cinematheque’s event will take place via Zoom on August 25 at 7 p.m. PT.

Shelton died unexpectedly this May from a previously unidentified blood disorder.

Seattle’s Northwest Film Forum and Duplass Brothers Productions recently launched the Lynn Shelton “Of a Certain Age” Grant. The $25,000 unrestricted cash grant will be awarded each year to a U.S.-based woman or non-binary filmmaker, age 39 or older, who has yet to direct a narrative feature.
