“My Little Sister” has entered the Oscar race. Variety reports that Switzerland selected the Nina Hoss-starrer as its entry in the International Feature Film category of the 2021 Academy Awards.

Written and directed by Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond, the drama tells the story of twins “Lisa (Hoss), and Sven (Lars Eidinger), a well-known stage actor who is seriously ill. Lisa, refusing to accept this stroke of fate, moves heaven and earth to get Sven back on stage, and puts her marriage on the line in the process,” the source hints.

“My Little Sister” made its world premiere at the Berlinale earlier this year.

Chuat and Reymond’s first narrative feature, 2010’s “The Little Bedroom,” was also submitted as Switzerland’s entry for the Oscars. The pair also directed “Ladies,” a 2018 doc about five women in their sixties.

Hoss’ credits include “A Most Wanted Man,” “Homeland,” and “The Audition.”

Poland recently named Malgorzata Szumowska’s “Never Gonna Snow Again” as their International Feature Film Oscar pick.
