“I just always act out on my birthday. It’s like my own personal New Year’s Eve,” explains Alice (Reese Witherspoon) in a newly released teaser for Hallie Meyers-Shyer’s “Home Again.” This time around, the newly separated mother of two celebrates her birth by inviting three aspiring filmmakers to live in her guest house.
The three young men seem to bond quickly with Alice and her daughters, and it’s not long before a romance develops between Alice and one of the guys. “Maybe it’s fate that they met you,” Alice’s mom (Candice Bergen) says. But Alice’s new life comes to a halt when her ex (Michael Sheen) shows up with a suitcase.
“‘Home Again’ is a story of love, friendship, and the families we create. And one very big life lesson: Starting over is not for beginners,” the film’s official synopsis details.
The romantic comedy marks the feature directorial debut of Meyers-Shyer, daughter of Nancy Meyers. She also penned the script.
Witherspoon was last seen in “Big Little Lies,” HBO’s adaptation of Liane Moriarty’s best-selling novel of the same name. The Oscar-winning actress served as an executive producer on the project.
“Home Again” hits theaters September 8.
