Andrea Arnold’s "American Honey," a coming-of-age tale about a girl (Sasha Lane) who joins a group of roving, law-flouting teenagers, has been acquired by A24.
Co-starring Shia LaBeouf and Riley Keough, the film centers on teens who sell magazine subscriptions to fund their party-all-night lifestyle. Lane’s character falls into a relationship with one of the leaders of the group.
Producer Lars Knudsen commented, “We spent over a year street-casting for the cast, clocked over 12,000 miles on the road to capture the film as Andrea imagined it, and we’re thrilled to end the journey with our friends at A24. The resulting story shows what Andrea does best — authentic, personal filmmaking.” Arnold’s previous films include "Fish Tank," "Red Road" and "Wuthering Heights."
"American Honey" will open during the second half of this year.
