Cruella de Vil is the latest Disney bad girl to get the live action treatment. Maleficent with Angelina Jolie playing the Sleeping Beauty villain already has finished filming and will be released in 2014.
Cruella will be penned by Aline Brosh McKenna and will be produced by McKenna and Andrew Gunn.
De Vil became one of the most stylish villains when she hit the screen in 1961’s 101 Dalmatians (based on Dodie Smith’s 1956 novel) and continued her reign with Glenn Close’s fun turn as De Vil in Disney’s 1996 live action version 101 Dalmatians and 2002’s sequel 102 Dalmatians. Close will be involved in the new project as an executive producer.
As of now, there’s no information on the plot of the film.
McKenna recently wrote the script for Disney’s live action version of Cinderella which is currently filming. She wrote the script for The Devil Wears Prada and working on the upcoming adaptation of Annie starring Quevenzhane Wallis.
