Amy Schumer is returning to television. The Emmy and Peabody-winning co-creator, star, writer, director, and exec producer of “Inside Amy Schumer” has received a series order from Hulu for “Love, Beth,” a half-hour comedy. The multi-hyphenate also signed a first-look deal with the streamer, according to Deadline.
Set to launch on Hulu in 2020, plot details for “Love, Beth” are under wraps for now. More information will be announced “in the coming weeks.” Hulu ordered 10 eps of the project, on which Schumer is once again credited as creator, star, writer, director, and exec producer.
A long-time stand-up comic, Schumer rose to movie stardom thanks to her lead role in “Trainwreck.” The 2015 rom-com about a commitment-averse journalist grossed over $140 million on a budget of $35 million. Schumer penned the script. “I Feel Pretty” and “Snatched” are among her other acting credits. Her most recent stand-up special, “Growing,” dropped on Netflix in March.
Other upcoming Hulu series on our radar include Kate McKinnon-starrer “The Dropout,” which tells the story of Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos, “Dollface,” a comedy that sees Kat Dennings playing a woman determined to make good with her girlfriends after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend, and “Little Fires Everywhere,” an adaptation of Celeste Ng’s novel led by Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington.
