Sofia Wylie is best known for her role as the confident and sporty best friend in Disney Channel’s “Andi Mack.” Now, Wylie is set to make her big screen debut in Louise Alston’s family soccer flick “Back of the Net,” Deadline confirms.
Alston’s Australia-set film features Wylie as Bailey, a science wiz who accidentally ends up at Harold Soccer Academy. As she learns the ins and outs of the sport, she clashes with soccer star Evie. The tension between them grows in the build-up to the National Soccer Tournament.
“Back of the Net” is written by Casie Tabanou and Alison Spuck. Other cast members have yet to be announced. Filming will begin in Sydney, Australia later this month.
The project marks Alston’s third feature. She previously directed films “All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane” and “Jucy.” Alston has also helmed episodes of the long-running soap “Neighbours” and comedy “Stage Mums.”
Wylie’s previous credits include Nickelodeon’s “Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, & Dawn.” The second season of “Andi Mack” will air on Disney Channel in June.
