Andrea Arnold’s First US Film, ‘American Honey,’ to Star Shia LeBeouf

British filmmaker Andrea Arnold (“Wuthering Heights,” “Fish Tank,” “Red Road”) has cast Shia LeBeouf in her first US film, “American Honey.” The project has been percolating for some time, and now seems to have caught some momentum.

The story focuses on a runaway teenager who sells magazine subscriptions around the country and becomes involved in “a whirlwind of hard-partying, law-bending, and young love,” according to Variety. The coming-of-age drama, which was also written by Arnold, will be introduced to buyers at the Cannes Film Festival next month.
