Andrea Riseborough is set to star in another woman-directed psychological thriller. She’s following up Christina Choe’s “Nancy” with Stacey Gregg’s feature directorial debut, “Here Before.” Deadline confirmed the news.
Penned by Gregg, “Here Before” sees Riseborough playing a bereaved mother who “begins to question her reality” after new neighbors move in next door.
Production is currently underway on the pic, which is produced by Julia Godzinskaya and Sophie Vickers of Rooks Nest Entertainment. BBC Films, Pia Pressure, and Northern Ireland Screen are financing the project.
Eva Yates, Commissioning Executive at BBC Films said, “It’s testament to Stacey’s immense talent that she has attracted such an exceptional cast to her debut feature. We are thrilled to be working with Stacey and again with Julia and Sophie at Rooks Nest who have assembled such enthusiastic and supportive partners for this very special film.”
Gregg’s writing credits include Stacie Passon’s upcoming miniseries adaptation of Anaïs Nin’s “Little Birds” for Sky Atlantic and Netflix supernatural series “The Innocents.” Gregg co-directed “Inside Bitch” for the Royal Court Theatre and Clean Break.
“ZeroZeroZero,” “Waco,” and “Mandy” are among Riseborough’s recent credits. The “Birdman” actress can be seen next in “The Grudge,” a reboot of the 2004 Sarah Michelle Gellar-starrer of the same name (which was based on the 2002 Japanese film “Ju-on: The Grudge”). The horror pic hits theaters January 3.
