Ann Curry & Kim Bondy’s Nonfiction Medical Series “Chasing the Cure” Gets Premiere Date

Curry and Bondy: WarnerMedia Entertainment

Ann Curry will be taking on medical mysteries at her new gig. WarnerMedia Entertainment announced via press release that the journalist and TV anchor’s latest project, “Chasing the Cure” (formerly known as “M.D. Live”), will premiere July 25 on TNT and TBS. Curry will anchor the 10-episode series which — along with its associated interactive online community — seeks to help patients suffering from undiagnosed, misdiagnosed, or uncured conditions.

Award-winning journalist and former Starfish Media Group exec Kim Bondy is serving as “Chasing the Cure’s” showrunner. She’ll also exec produce with Curry.

From Lionsgate Television, “Chasing the Cure” will feature 24/7 digital and interactive components in addition to its weekly two-hour episodes. “This enterprise will harness the full power of both television and a multi-platform experience in order to break down medical barriers in service of patients,” the press release details. “Additionally, this initiative will foster and empower people across the globe on all screens to become medical detectives.” Those individuals engaging in the digital aspects of “Chasing the Cure” will also have the opportunity to submit their own cases, which will be considered for on-air broadcast.

“How could I not want to be part of this project, given the real chance that it will help people suffer less? This collaboration of physicians, journalists, and television creators is not only groundbreaking, it could potentially help encourage new ways for people to access care,” Curry emphasized.

“The audience will have a chance to proactively make a difference when we launch ‘Chasing the Cure’ this summer, a project that takes a groundbreaking approach to tackling people’s unsolved medical mysteries,” said Jennifer O’Connell, executive vp and head of worldwide unscripted television for Lionsgate. “It is one of those rare initiatives that seeks to inspire with a larger humanitarian purpose, and it couldn’t be in the hands of a better network partner or a more brilliant and respected team.”

Emmy winner Curry has anchored and reported for “Today,” “Dateline NBC,” “NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt,” and many other news and nonfiction programs. She most recently appeared on “Finding Your Roots with Henry Louis Gates, Jr.”

Bondy has held top positions at CNN, NBC, and Al Jazeera America. She joined Starfish Media Group as Head of Content in 2017.
