“Mom” star Anna Faris is set to release a memoir titled “Unqualified,” which will take inspiration from the actress’ cheekily titled podcast “Anna Faris Is Unqualified,” where listeners have the opportunity to seek “not-so-great relationship advice from completely unqualified Hollywood types.”
Entertainment Weekly reports that “Unqualified” is in development with Dutton, a boutique imprint within Penguin that previously published Drew Barrymore’s 2015 memoir “Wildflower.”
According to a press release for “Unqualified,” the book will offer Faris another outlet to share her insight about “how to navigate the bizarre, chaotic, and worthwhile adventure of finding love.” The memoir will dig into Faris’ awkward youth in Washington as a self-described drama club “dork,” and her early days in Hollywood. Faris’ breakout role came in 2000's horror spoof “Scary Movie.” “Unqualified” will also chronicle Faris’ romantic missteps and her eventual marriage to “Jurassic World” star Chris Pratt, who will write the foreword.
“After years of telling people I don’t know what I’m talking about concerning a whole host of topics, it is deeply gratifying to learn that Dutton whole-heartedly agrees,” Faris said in a press release. “I could not be more excited to get my stories — on love, relationships, and courtship — to the people who not only buy books, but then actually read those books. Namaste.”
Faris’ credits include “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” and its sequel, “What’s Your Number?” “The House Bunny,” “Just Friends,” “Friends,” and “Lost in Translation.” Ellen Page, Aubrey Plaza, Julia Stiles, Lisa Kudrow, Jenny Slate, and Olivia Munn are among the guests Faris has hosted on her podcast. A release date for “Unqualified” hasn’t been announced yet, but you can catch Faris in the fourth season of “Mom” when it premieres on CBS October 27.
