Annah Feinberg Animated Series “Multifarious Maris” in Development at Showtime

Feinberg: Sela Shiloni

Imagine if “Sliding Doors” was animated and involved lots of vino, and you’ll have some idea of what to expect from a delightful-sounding comedy series in development at Showtime.

Created by playwright, cartoonist, and “I Love Dick” script coordinator Annah Feinberg, “Multifarious Maris,” is a half-hour series about a woman who discovers a superpower on the night of her 30th birthday. “Upon finishing one-too-many glasses of wine, [Maris] travels amidst the lives she might have had if she had made different choices,” Variety writes. “The series will follow her journey of self-discovery through multiple universes, as she attempts to figure out how to literally live her best life.”

If Showtime orders “Multifarious Maris” to series, it “would be the second animated comedy currently airing on Showtime, with the other being ‘Our Cartoon President.'”

In addition to writing, Feinberg is among the project’s exec producers. Big Beach’s Molly Breeskin is producing.

Feinberg is a founding member of the Kilroys, a collective of playwrights and producers advocating for equal representation in American theater.

“It takes a lot of time to build a career,” the multi-hyphenate has said. “More time than I thought. There’s always a few narratives of people who seem to magically become successful. But there are always counter examples. You have to build up a lot of work. If you do the work, write your face off and your heart out, eventually it happens in the way it happens. But that consistency without reward is really difficult. It’s not sexy or cute or fun.”
