Paprika Steen is a big star in Denmark. Now folks in the US will get a chance to see her as her film Applause opens here in the US.
The film tells the story of an actress struggling to conquer her addiction to alcohol. She has screwed up her marriage, lost her kids, lost her dignity, but still manages to pull of some great performances onstage. But while she can keep the facade up onstage, she is having a hard time holding onto reality in this brilliant performance of a woman on the brink.
Here’s a conversation I had with her in early December when she has here to promote the film. The film opens in limited release today.
