Apply for This Athena Film Festival Workshop — Crafting a Short: How to Find Your Story and Make It a Movie

We are gearing up for the 3rd Athena Film Festival from February 7–10, 2013. We are very excited to be partnering with the American Film Institute’s Directing Workshop for Women for a day of workshops and other activities to train more women in the directing field. If you are interested in getting into directing this is something you should apply for. These people know what thay are doing. They train successful women directors in TV and film.

The workshop Crafting a Short: How to Find Your Story and Make It a Movie is brought to you in partnership by the American Film Institute Directing Workshop for Women and The Athena Film Festival.

The American Film Institute Directing Workshop for Women will be hosting the workshop at the 2013 Athena Film Festival: a celebration of women and leadership. The workshop, which will take place on February 8, 2013 from 10am-1pm at Barnard College in NYC, will accept a maximum of 24 participants. Applications are open to female filmmakers (writers/directors/producers) of all levels that have a short film idea they would like to develop into a script. Three spaces will be reserved for Barnard students.

Applications are due by midnight on December 15, 2012. Selected participants will be notified in mid-January 2013. There is no cost for the workshop.

AFI Directing Workshop for Women has been a major force in training women in narrative filmmaking since 1974. Over 250 women have been given the opportunity to participate in the innovative, unique and tuition-free training program for tomorrow’s directors.

The Athena Film Festival — a celebration of women and leadership — is an engaging weekend of feature films, documentaries and shorts that highlight women’s leadership in real life and the fictional world.
