Boyish, a digital media company spotlighting content created by women, is teaming up with In The Know and Malka Media for a female filmmaker contest. Boyish will award five women-identifying filmmakers $30,000 to make a short film with the theme #RaiseYourVoice.
“Our voices are the most important tool we can use to speak our truth,” the competition’s website reads. “Using our voice allows us to make things better for ourselves and those around us — whether it is speaking against unfair treatment or initiating civil rights movements — change begins by raising our voice.”
The contest winners will also be featured in a docuseries chronicling their filmmaking journeys.
Eligible applicants should be writer-directors or writers — but a female director must be attached the project for the latter. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or awful permanent resident, at least 18 years old, and have previous filmmaking experience. They will submit a three-to-five-minute script, short bio, résumé, directing reel/website link, and director’s treatment.
#RaiseYourVoice applications can be submitted via Boyish’s website. You can also find more info there or by emailing info@boyish.media.
The deadline to submit is February 2 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
