If you’re a woman or nonbinary director working on your first or second nonfiction feature, this is for you. Chicken & Egg Pictures is now accepting applications for its 2020 (Egg)celerator Lab, a year-long program supporting rising women and gender non-conforming filmmakers.
Previous (Egg)celerator Lab participants include Sabaah Folayan (“Whose Streets?”), Assia Boundaoui (“The Feeling of Being Watched”), Jackie Olive (“Always in Season”), and Nanfu Wang and Jialing Zhang (“One Child Nation”).
To be held February-December 2020, the Lab will involve monthly mentorship with Chicken & Egg’s senior creative team, three creative retreats, networking opportunities and industry meetings, and peer support from within the Lab cohort. Ten projects will be selected, and will receive $35,000 in grant funding each.
In order to be eligible for the Lab, projects must be documentary features in early or mid-production (i.e. between 10 and 60 percent of the footage should already be shot). Films centering on social issues will be prioritized, but there is no requirement for the type of story being told. International filmmakers are welcome to apply.
The application deadline is Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 3:00 pm ET.
