CinemaStreet Pictures is hosting a contest for short scripts from female screenwriters. The CinemaStreet Women’s Short Screenplay Competition is accepting women-penned scripts of 20 pages or less. The contest winner will receive $1,000 for a two-year option from CinemaStreet, who will have the right to produce the screenplay.
In order to be eligible, screenplays must be penned by writers who identify as women. Scripts penned by multiple writers will be considered, but all the screenwriters must identify as women. The scripts can be of any fiction genre (drama, comedy, horror, action, thriller, science fiction, animation, musical, etc.) and cover any topic, but need to feature a significant woman character. Applicants from all racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, cultural groups, and countries are welcome to submit. Screenplays must be written in English.
It costs $30 to apply to the contest. Members of Women in Film, the Black List, and the International Screenwriters Association will receive a discounted rate of $20.
Applicants are permitted to submit as many screenplays as they want, but each script must be turned in with a separate application and submission fee.
The Women’s Short Screenplay Competition’s application period will be open through 11:59 PM on June 30. Applicants will be notified by August 15.
Go to the Competition’s website for more information. Applications can be submitted via FilmFreeway.
