Greek-born director Athina Rachel Tsangari has been named Film Society of Lincoln Center’s 2015 Filmmaker in Residence.
Tsangari’s features include “The Slow Business of Going” (2000), “Attenberg” (2010) and the upcoming buddy comedy “Chevalier,” which will compete in the international program at this year’s Locarno Film Festival. Her producing credits include “Before Midnight” and “Dogtooth.”
At Lincoln Center, Tsangari will work on “White Knuckles,” described as “a screwball action thriller about two criminal sisters” by Variety. Deadline notes that it will involve “VAT fraud, amour fou, architectural infiltration, and electrically amplified fist fighting.”
After Andrea Arnold and Lisandro Alonso, Tsangari is only the third recipient of the residency, which is sponsored by FSLC and Jaeger-LeCoultre.
