I was in LA yesterday and already had a meeting set up with Ava DuVernay to just say hi in between her press appearances. I was able to chat with her a couple of hours after her two Gotham award nominations. Her film Middle of Nowhere received two nominations as did Beast of the Southern Wild, Bernie and Moonnrise Kingdom — all others directed by men.
