Barbra Streisand, Ellen Page Directing New Films

nullAfter yesterday’s news that Melissa McCarthy would be directing her first feature, more news about upcoming women directed films has been announced. The legendary Barbra Streisand will be directing a new project.

Barbra Streisand has signed on with Aldamisa International to direct a new film. A specific film has not been announced but reportedly Streisand is looking at several options.

Nadine de Barros, Aldamisa president of international sales and acquisitions, commented on the upcoming project, “We are thrilled to provide underwriting for a filmmaker of her vision, stature and accomplishment.”

This will be Streisand’s first return to directing since 1991’s The Mirror Has Two Faces.

And in other women director news, Ellen Page will be directing her first feature.

Ellen Page will be directing Miss Stevens, written by Julia Hart.

Anna Faris is attached to play the title character, a high school teacher whose personal life is a mess. However, after taking a group of students on a weekend trip to a drama competition, she discovers more about herself than she expected.
