Barbra Streisand is about to make history. In all likelihood, her new album, Partners, will debut at №1 on the Billboard 200 chart next week. What is remarkable about this achievement is that, if Partners meets expectations to reach the top of the charts, Streisand will be the first artist with a №1 record in each of the past six decades.
Yahoo Music reports that Streisand “first topped the chart in October 1964 with People,” thus establishing a 49-year span of number-one albums. She will dethrone the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, Elvis Presley, who will fall to second place with a 46-year span of №1 albums (May 1956 to October 2002).
If all goes according to projections, Partners will be Streisand’s tenth №1 record. She already holds the title of female artist with the most №1 albums. (Madonna is second, with eight chart-topping albums.)
