Bella Thorne will star in “Break My Heart 1,000 Times,” Variety has reported, an adaptation of the young adult novel by Daniel Waters.
The plot centers on “a cataclysmic event that tears the barrier between this world and the next, leaving ‘Remnants,’ or ghost-like essences of the deceased, part of everyday life. After years of quiet coexistence with the living, a Remnant sends a threatening message to a young girl, propelling her on a mission that will forever change the course of her life.”
The script was adapted by Jason Fuchs, who wrote the screenplay for Patty Jenkins’ upcoming Wonder Woman film.
Scott Speer is directing. He recently wrapped “Midnight Sun,” which also stars Thorne. He’s also directed the film “Step Up Revolution” and directed and produced the TV series “Finding Carter.”
Thorne has appeared in the Mae Whitman indie hit “The Duff,” the Adam Sandler bomb “Blended,” and on TV in “Big Love.”
It was reported over a year ago that Hailee Steinfeld (“True Grit”) would be starring in this adaptation. No word on if Steinfeld left the project or if the two are co-stars.
