“Twin Blades” has added a broke girl to its cast. Beth Behrs will join Ma Li (“Heaven for Heart”) in the Eva Jin-directed buddy comedy. Deadline confirmed the news.
A story about “an unlikely pair of alpha females,” “Twin Blades” sees Behrs playing Zoe, an American tech entrepreneur who relocates her company to China. “Maylin (Ma) is a local female bodyguard who is hired to protect her. When Zoe’s life is threatened, the odd couple must put aside differences and join forces to survive,” the source summarizes. “Legally Blonde” scribe Karen McCullah rewrote an earlier draft of the script by Ingrid Eskeland-Adetuyi.
Scheduled to kick off filming later this year in in Hong Kong and mainland China, the pic is being co-produced by Cristal Pictures and The Donners’ Company’s Lauren Shuler Donner and Jack Leslie.
Behrs broke out with CBS hit “2 Broke Girls,” which concluded its six-season run in 2017. She now stars in CBS’ “The Neighborhood,” a sitcom about a white family from the Midwest that moves to a predominantly black neighborhood in LA — much to the chagrin of their neighbors. The series has been renewed for a second season. In 2017 Behrs released a self-help book, “The Total Me-Tox: How to Ditch Your Diet, Move Your Body & Love Your Life.”
Jin’s previous features include “One Night Surprise” and “Crazy New Year’s Eve.”
