The iconic Bette Midler is hitting Broadway again for the first time in 40 years playing another iconic woman, Hollywood agent Sue Mengers.
In John Logan’s I’ll Eat You Last, Midler becomes Mengers, in a one-woman play that takes place on a day in Menger’s life that is extremely important to her career. The majority of the action of the play is Midler delivering an 80 minute monologue from a couch. Graydon Carter, who wrote a Vanity Fair memorial article on Mengers, serves as a producer for the show says that he and Logan always wanted Midler for the part.
Watch Midler discuss her return to Broadway and playing one of the toughest roles of her career. I’ll Eat You Last runs through June.
