Brit Marling has written another starring vehicle for herself.
The indie actress has co-created and will star in “The OA,” a drama just picked up by Netflix. The show’s plot and premise are currently under wraps, but eight hour-long episodes will air next year. Marling’s co-writer and director for the show is Zal Batmanglij, with whom she co-wrote “Sound of My Voice” and “The East.”
She also co-wrote and starred in “Another Earth.”
“I always started writing in order to act,” Marling previously declared in an interview. “I think I’ll never stop writing now because I’m wondering why there aren’t more representatives of women that are like the women we know…. Where’s the film with the women who are complicated and strong and beautiful and sexy and interesting and of all body types? You don’t get to see enough of them. So there’s something important in attempting to write them for myself and for the insanely talented women out there.”
