Can’t Buy My Silence to Host Exclusive Preview Screening of “She Said” in London

"She Said"

“She Said” is coming to London early. Together Films and Can’t Buy My Silence (CBMS) are presenting an exclusive preview screening of the Maria Schrader-directed #MeToo drama, with all funds going to CMBS’s campaign against the misuse of NDAs with survivors of sexual assault. A press release announced that the fundraising event will be held November 17 at the Ham Yard Hotel.

Written by Rebecca Lenkiewicz (“Colette”), “She Said” is based on journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey’s Pulitzer-winning investigation into powerhouse producer Harvey Weinstein’s long history of sexual abuse. Their story helped bring the #MeToo movement into the mainstream.

Carey Mulligan (“Promising Young Woman”) and Zoe Kazan (“The Plot Against America”) star as Twohey and Kantor, respectively, in the adaptation of the New York Times journalists’ bestselling book of the same name.

Founded by Zelda Perkins, a former assistant to Weinstein, and Dr. Julie Macfarlane in 2021, CBMS pushes for “legislative and regulatory change that will make NDAs unenforceable for anything other than their original purpose – the protection of [intellectual property] or trade secrets,” per the release.

The screening will be followed by a reception and a Q&A led by BBC journalist Emily Maitlis with Leinkowicz, Perkins, actress Samantha Morton, who plays Perkins in “She Said,” and Laura Madden, an Irish whistleblower who was assaulted by Weinstein.

Schrader won an Emmy for directing “Unorthodox,” Netflix’s limited series about a Jewish woman living in an ultra-Orthodox community in Brooklyn who leaves her arranged marriage and escapes to Berlin. Her last feature, 2021’s “I’m Your Man,” was Germany’s submission to the International Film category at the Oscars.

“She Said” hits U.S. theaters November 18 and opens in the UK November 25.
