The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced an upcoming event centered around one of summer’s most anticipated releases. “Ghostbusters” won’t hit theaters until July 15, but you can catch a screening days before its official release at “Ghostbusters: A Sneak Preview with Screenwriter Katie Dippold.” Dippold co-wrote the script for the film alongside its director, Paul Feig (“Spy,” “Bridesmaids”).
Dippold, a former “Parks and Rec” writer, will be in attendance to discuss adapting the 1984 screenplay. One of the biggest — and certainly the most controversial — changes to the original franchise in this rebooted version is that it stars women: Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones will suit up to fight malevolent paranormal forces in the comedy.
The event will be moderated by Melissa Silverstein, Women and Hollywood’s founder and publisher.
“Ghostbusters: A Sneak Preview with Screenwriter Katie Dippold” will take place at SVA Theater in NYC on Monday, July 11 at 7PM. You can find ticket information here. Please note that “Ghostbusters” is rated PG, and as such, kids under the age of six may not be admitted.
