Catherine Hardwicke and Marti Noxon Get Series Orders

Cable just keeps getting better.

Catherine Hardwicke and Marti Noxon have announced separate TV projects, both rather intriguing.

Hardwicke, who’s built her career on young-adult fare like Thirteen and Twilight, has teamed up with Jason Blum to executive produce MTV’s Eye Candy. Like the show Catfish, Hardwicke’s teen thriller will focus on the perils of the online world. Indiewire’s Taylor Lindsay notes that “the series features former Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice (Fun Size) as a web-savvy but reclusive hacker hottie who exposes terrorist plots and suspected killers on her blog. After entering the online dating world, she ends up connecting with a culprit and teams up with law enforcement to catch the cyberstalker.”

Even more media-obsessed is Noxon and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro’s new show on Lifetime, Un-Real. Based on Shapiro’s short film “Sequin Raze,” the dark comedy goes behind the scenes of a reality dating show like The Bachelor. Shiri Appleby will star as “a staffer on the show whose job is to manipulate the contestants to produce the maximum drama demanded by the dispassionate executive producer (Megyn Price),” reports Indiewire’s Allison Wilmore. The show will focus on Rachel’s tension with the her ex (Josh Kelly), a camera man for the show, as well as the dramatic goings-on of the show within the show.
