If you’re a screenwriter interested in receiving mentorship from industry vets and the chance to collaborate with other female scribes, take note: The Hedgebrook Screenwriters Lab is accepting applications for the program’s inaugural year. The residency will be held October 26th though November 2nd on Whidbey Island in Washington State.
Five female screenwriters will be welcomed to the week-long residency. Each lab participant will live in her own cottage in the woods and have meals prepared by in-house chefs. Robin Swicord (“The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”) will serve as advisor and Jane Anderson (“Olive Kitteridge”) and Jenny Bicks (“The Big C”) as mentors.
Hedgebrook is a literary nonprofit with a mission to support visionary women writers. Through this program, funded in part by the Humanitas Foundation, Hedgebrook “aims to support the creative process
of a diverse group of screenwriters each year and build a community that
harnesses the power of film as a storytelling medium to change the cultural
conversation.”
The application deadline is June 22, 2015. Here are their requirements:
1) The first 10 pages of your script (in
PDF format).
OR
2) The first 10 pages of a treatment of
your script (PDF).
3) Contact and biographical information and
brief statements about you and your project.
4) You are welcome, but not required, to also
attach your Creative/Writing Resume (as a PDF).
