It’s looking like Oscar winners Charlize Theron and Diablo Cody may reunite. The star and screenwriter of 2011’s “Young Adult” would join its director, Jason Reitman, for a project about motherhood.
Deadline reports that the “Max Max: Fury Road” actress is in “early talks” for the untitled film.
Theron gave a stunning performance in the trio’s first collaboration, where she portrayed Mavis Gary, a divorced, alcoholic ghostwriter who returns to her small hometown in the hopes of winning back her high school sweetheart. Mavis has convinced herself that she’s on a mission to save her former beau, though he’s happily married with a new baby. (In one of the dark comedy’s many laugh-out-loud moments, Mavis responds to a comment about how cute the baby is by asking, “Have you seen it? Up close?”)
Cody won an Oscar in 2008 for “Juno,” her screenwriting debut. Reitman directed the hugely successful indie dramedy starring Ellen Page as a teen dealing with an unplanned pregnancy.
Theron reprises her role as Ravenna from 2012’s “Snow White and the Huntsman” in “The Huntsman: Winter’s War,” in theaters April 22.
