Cheryl Hines is stepping behind the camera again. The Emmy-nominated “Curb Your Enthusiasm” actress has signed on to direct “Revenge Wedding” for CBS Films, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.
The pic follows a woman who discovers her rich fiancé is cheating on her. She then “enlists her best friend and a crew of miscreant lowlifes to transform their perfect wedding into a circus of revenge.”
“Everyone who has ever been devastated by betrayal will revel in the heart and redemption in this funny adventure,” Hines said in a statement.
The script was penned by Tamara Chestna, Davis White, and “Think Like a Man” and “Friends with Benefits” scribes Keith Merryman and David A. Newman. Suzanne Todd (“Bad Moms”) is producing.
Hines made her feature directorial debut with “Serious Moonlight,” a comedy starring Meg Ryan and Timothy Hutton that premiered at the 2009 Tribeca Film Festival. “I knew it was going to be stressful, but I didn’t know why it would be so stressful,” she said of making the film. “And when I started shooting, [I] realized there are so many elements that you can’t control. Things that you can’t anticipate. And things that are unique to your shooting experience. So, nobody can even prepare you for it. Like, a frog that’s croaking loudly during a scene, or if it rains, you can hear the rain on the roof. You know, there are things like that that you just don’t know until you start shooting. And that was hard for me. It was hard for me to be okay with … not knowing.”
Hines has also directed eps of “Campus Ladies” and “Hollywood Help.” Best known for her role as Cheryl David on “Curb Your Enthusiasm” — for which she’s earned two Emmy nominations — her other on-screen credits include “A Bad Moms Christmas,” “Suburgatory,” and “Waitress.”
