Peruvian director Claudia Llosa’s first English-language film, Aloft, has been purchased by Sony Pictures Classics.
Starring Jennifer Connelly, Aloft is one of the four women-directed films to compete for this year’s Golden Bear prize at the Berlinale. Llosa previously won Berlin’s top film prize in 2009 with The Milk of Sorrow.
Indiewire’s Playlist reports that Connelly plays a mother and her “evolution to becoming a renowned artist and healer” who is reunited with the son she abandoned (Cillian Murphy) twenty years ago.
