Constance Wu Holiday Horror Pic “All the Creatures Were Stirring” Secures VOD Release

"All the Creatures Were Stirring"

In addition to being the first studio film with a predominantly Asian cast in 25 years, as well as a critical and (most likely) commercial success, “Crazy Rich Asians” just goes to show we could all use more Constance Wu in our lives. RLJE Films seems to agree. A press release has announced the company has acquired the North American rights to “All the Creatures Were Stirring,” a Christmas-set horror film starring Wu. RLJE will release the film on VOD, digital, and DVD on December 4.

Written and directed by Rebekah McKendry and David Ian McKendry, the film sees a bad date turn even worse when a couple heads to a creepy theater. “They’re treated to a bizarre and frightening collection of Christmas stories, featuring a wide ensemble of characters doing their best to avoid the horrors of the holidays,” the film’s synopsis states. “From boring office parties and last-minute shopping, to vengeful stalkers and immortal demons, there’s plenty out there to fear this holiday season.”

Joining Wu in the cast are Amanda Fuller (“Orange Is the New Black”), Jocelin Donahue (“Insidious: Chapter 2”), Jonathan Kite (“2 Broke Girls”), and Graham Skipper (“The Mind’s Eye”).

“With scares, laughs, and stars from some of the top releases this year, including Constance Wu in ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and Amanda Fuller in ‘Orange Is the New Black,’ ‘All the Creatures Were Stirring’ has it all,” said RLJE’s Chief Acquisitions Officer, Mark Ward. “We’re excited to see how horror fans react to this new holiday horror classic from David and Rebekah McKendry.”

The film marks both McKendrys’ feature directorial debut. Rebekah McKendry previously helmed shorts including “Witches Brew” and “Found.”

Wu stars as fan fave Jessica Huang on ABC’s “Fresh Off the Boat.” The sitcom will return for Season 5 on October 5. Wu recently appeared in Beyoncé and Jay Z’s “Family Feud” music video, directed by Ava DuVernay. “Crazy Rich Asians” is in theaters now.
