Cristela Alonzo fans, rejoice: we’ve got a stand-up tour and a book to look forward to. The history-making comedian is kicking off a 30-city tour this fall, and each stop will include a signing of her upcoming memoir, “Music to My Ears.” The Hollywood Reporter confirmed the news.
Scheduled to kick off October 8 in New York, Alonzo’s tour is titled My Affordable Health Care Act. That same day marks the release of “Music to My Ears,” which tells the “story of Alonzo’s life, from living the first years of her life in an abandoned diner in a Texas border town through her rise in comedy and becoming the first Latinx woman to create and star in her own primetime network show — ABC’s ‘Cristela,’ which had a one-season run in 2014-15,” THR writes.
“It might sound dramatic and a little grandiose, but as a Latina, I would like to be someone that gives a voice to my culture,” Alonzo has said.
The multi-hyphenate has voiced characters in “Cars 3” and “The Angry Birds Movie.” In 2017 Netflix dropped Alonzo’s first hour-long stand-up special, “Lower Classy.” Check out a trailer for it below.
