Details Emerge on Lynne Ramsay’s Exit

nullWe’ve been talking a lot about Lynne Ramsay here at Women and Hollywood since her departure from Jane Got a Gun last week. Confirmed details are still scarce, but rumors and commentary have surrounded Ramsay’s exit.

The Guardian (via The Hollywood Reporter) has reported about some unconfirmed sources who are providing more insight into the behind the scenes. Sources say that Ramsay quit, after having a three day standoff with producer Scott Steindorff. Ramsay was waiting to received an approved script, budget and schedule before the beginning of the shoot. Ramsay was also promised final cut on the film, but that began to look unlikely to happen. There also may have also been friction between Ramsay and Natalie Portman (star and producer of the project) over replacing the male lead after Michael Fassbender dropped out. Fassbender was later replaced by Jude Law, who has also since left the film.

The film began shooting last Thursday under the helm of new director, Gavin O’Connor. However, the many delays have also caused some potential financial trouble for the film.

Friends of Ramsay are saying that she’s okay but not surprisingly upset with how things turned out. She felt like she had been in control of the film but then as it got closer to production it became apparent that was not the case. Ramsay is also, according to sources, figuring out how to respond to what happened as well as to the many of the slurs that have been put out there about her.

We will look forward to hearing directly from her.
